Are Fats Important?
Dear Friends,
What a joy it is to share with you our wealth of knowledge!!!
We know your time is precious, so we will keep the tips short and include links if you are interested in learning more.
Your brain is mainly fat.
Many of you emailed to say you were surprised at this statement.
Yes, it is true--your brain is about 60% fat. That is why it is vitally important to not deprive ourselves of the proper fats and oils.
Why is it then, that low-fat diets have become so popular?
Many people believe it is because the right fats generally have a short shelf life unless stored properly. Essential fats spoil rapidly with exposure to light, air and heat. These important fats need the proper care to remain fresh and right for health.
So, manufacturers will often go for convenience rather than health.
The theme of the first few newsletters is to encourage you to watch out for harmful oils and go for the right fats.

More on Canola
Dear Friends,
We wish you the Happiest, Healthiest New Year ever!!!
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease."
Thomas Edison
As we mentioned in our last newsletter your brain is about 60-70% fat. That is why it is vitally important to get the proper fats and oils to the brain and not the harmful ones.
Many of you asked us to summarize the article we sent out on Canola Oil. See below.
Enjoy! Until next time...
Happy and Healthy New Year,
Alarik, Betty and Cynthia
Here is the summary--
From Letters to the Editor, Acres USA magazine, March 2001 The Straight Dope on Canola Oil
Canola, which is an amalgam of the words "Canada" (whence it originated) and "oil," is actually derived from the rapeseed, a member of the mustard family which is generally unfit for human consumption and was once more commonly used as a potent pesticide and lubricant, among other things.
Canola oil actually created a deficiency of vitamin E, which, as many of us know, is essential to our cardiovascular health.
In 1996, the Japanese announced a study wherein a special canola oil diet had actually killed laboratory animals.
In this second study published in Nutrition Research, 1997, v17, the researchers verified that canola oil somehow depleted the piglets of vitamin E to a dangerously low level.
Partially hydrogenated oils — trans–fatty acids, are always poisonous. Canola oil now has been shown to be a very heavy abuser of tocopherols or vitamin E, with the potential for rapidly depleting a body of the important vitamin.
The reason canola is particularly unsuited for consumption is because it contains a very–long–chain fatty acid called erucic acid, which under some circumstances is associated with fibrotic heart lesions.

Your Brain Needs EFA's
Dear Friends,
We hope this finds you enjoying. As we have mentioned in our last E-Newsletters, your brain is about 60-70% fat.
Essential Fatty Acids for Health and Longevity
It is important to know that your brain needs Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs or Omegas) to function properly. EFA's/Omegas help keep your cell walls permeable and pliable and they are the ideal building blocks for the brain. They not only support proper brain function but also may decrease the chances of brain disorders.
The trend towards eating more saturated fat and fewer healthy fat sources is contributing to the increasingly common health problems in America.
The theme of this E-Newsletter is to help you make sure that you are aware of the importance of getting enough essential fatty acids in your diet. Essential fatty acids are so named because our bodies cannot manufacture these fats on our own, and we need to get these essential fats from food sources and/or supplements.
Conversely, when a person eats a diet high in saturated fat and inadequate in EFA's, the brain cells can become less flexible and therefore less efficient.
"Let food be thy medicine"
This phrase is usually attributed to Hippocrates (460 B.C. - 380 B.C.) the founder of medicine.
Nothing can replace a good diet.
We should all be sure to eat more foods rich in omegas, as well as foods rich in antioxidants like colorful vegetables, fruits, and nuts.
Food Sources of Omegas
Here are some suggested foods rich in omegas for you to add to your diet:
- Walnuts
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Pine Nuts
- Sunflower Seeds
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Safflower Oil
- Sunflower Oil
- Navy Beans
- Kidney Beans
- Winter Squash
We hope you find these E-Newsletter valuable.
We wish you great health and happiness,
Alarik, Betty and Cynthia

The Health of our Planet Earth
Dear Friends,
"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect."
~Chief Seattle, 1855
We hopes this newsletter finds you enjoying life to its fullest.
We are asking your help in allowing our planet to age gracefully.
This information will help you become more aware of the need of everyone on our planet to use 100% biodegradable plastics.
Did you know that there is an enormous island of trash twice the size of Texas floating in the Pacific Ocean somewhere between San Francisco and Hawaii?
Chris Parry with the California Coastal Commission in San Francisco said the so-called Great Pacific Garbage Patch, has been growing a brisk rate since the 1950s, The San Francisco Chronicle reported about 6 months ago.
The trash stew is 80 percent plastic and weighs more than 3.5 million tons. "At this point, cleaning it up isn't an option," Parry said. "It's just going to get bigger as our reliance on plastics continues."
Together, we can make a difference.
Please use:
100% Biodegradable Plastic Bags
Note: Recyclable bags do not decompose and many plastic bags that say they are biodegradable can only biodegrade 10-20%.
Be sure to use 100% biodegradable.
Canvas bags to cart groceries instead of using plastic bags are a good first step to reducing reliance on plastics
Thank you for considering the health of our planet...
May this attachment and the slide show inspire us all to do more.
We will help you!
Once our Anti-Aging Company web site is up and going we would like to offer you the best in 100% biodegradable plastics at affordable prices.
Warmest Regards,
Anti-Aging Company
